You Are A Big Part of Their Success
The Vandegrift Band is a student-led organization supported by the Vandegrift HIgh School Band Booster Club. Because your child is in band you ARE a member of the VHS Band Booster Club. It takes the untiring support from our Booster Club Parents, YOU, for the band to attain its highest potential. So how can you help?

Chaperones assist the students at all times: escorting them to and from the stadium during bathroom breaks, inserting and removing plumes in the student’s shakos, collecting flip folders after the Legacy performance, handing out beverages after the marching performance, preparing the bleacher area for the band before the game, ensuring the bleacher area is clean after the game, and other miscellaneous duties that may arise. You will remain in the stands with the students for the entire football game. In order to give everyone an opportunity to chaperone a football game, please do not sign up for more than 3 games (and only one home game).

Pit vipers help move band equipment on and off the field for performances. This includes the props, front ensemble equipment, and the drum major podiums. While the band equipment is easy to move, there will be lifting involved. You must be able to freely walk while pushing and pulling heavy equipment over 50 Lbs. Pit Vipers also help load and unload the band trailer and box trucks for away games. In order to give everyone an opportunity to participate, please do not sign up for more than 3 games (1 Home + 2 Away).

Leander ISD is hosting two marching contests this fall: UIL Region on Wednesday, October 16 and UIL 5A Area on Saturday, October 26. All of the LISD high schools are helping during these events, and we need your help to fill the spots that VHS has been assigned.
Contests are where VHS Band and Vision compete against other programs. Use this form to express your interest in helping out – the Pit Viper Leads will put together their contest teams based on the interest and availability of volunteers.

Help sell VHS Band & Vision spirit wear at band registration, home football games, booster club meetings, and other events. Duties also include setting up and taking down the booth at all in person events. SW also needs “behind the scenes” help with filling orders and periodic inventories.
We would love to see you there!
Questions or to sign up for the “behind the scenes” crew, email spirit@vhsband.com.
The Hospitality Team ensures all band members, staff, chaperones, and pit vipers are fed before each event. All hospitality, whether for home or away football games, will be in the VHS cafeteria. Please only sign up for 5 dates to allow for everyone to have a chance to participate. We are also responsible for keeping our band hydrated. If the volunteer slot says ‘Hydration’, this role involves filling up coolers of Gatorade and water for our events, and possibly moving them (they will be heavy). Feel free to sign up for as many Hydration slots as you can assist.
Questions? Email hospitality@vhsband.com.
1. This sign up is for band rehearsal shifts only. Games and competitions will be scheduled by the BandAid Chair and only volunteers who have participated in rehearsals will be eligible.
2. All new volunteers must first attend a BandAid orientation. Please sign up for July orientation dates here. If you have missed these orientation dates, please contact bandaid@vhsband.com.
3. Take LISD HIPAA/med training online. The more we have trained, the better. All are encouraged to take the training, but it is not required. This class must be taken annually.

TRAVEL
Travel volunteers are one of our most critical positions. We have needs in two areas:
1. We need one or two people who might be interested in getting their Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and sometimes drive the tractor trailer rig
2. We also need folks who are willing to drive a Box Truck (no special driver’s license required)
If you might be interested in either of these – please email CJ at travel@vhsband.com
UNIFORMS
We make sure the band looks its best during marching and concert season. We need help fitting students as well as repairing items throughout the year. All marching uniform elastics are installed and repaired by this team as well as hems in dresses and pants during concert season. Each uniform is pressed and or steamed prior to the start of each season.
