Viper Band and Vision Family,
Congratulations to the students and volunteers on an outstanding day of performances at the Texas Marching Classic! The students handled a long day with great resilience and put on a wonderful show in the (early) afternoon and (late) evening performances! Please see the Announcement Sheet for details regarding upcoming events (UIL Marching Contest, Homecoming, etc.).
A note on competition: While we are all very excited to see the students receive accolades for their performance, let us not lose sight that the culture of our program is not rooted in competition. Positive competitive result is only symptomatic of something much bigger at play…hard work, relationship-building, and working to inspire audiences through performance are at the core of our program philosophy. I am SO PROUD of the students’ performances yesterday, and that pride was established well before any competitive result was announced. If you had a chance to see the other finalist bands last night, I’m sure you all would agree that the artistry and quality that was demonstrated by all of the bands was overwhelming. Congratulations to all of our Central Texas bands and their outstanding shows…it will be great to see every show continue to develop throughout the season. What a special place for high school band in our State!
Go Vipers.
