Congratulations again to the Drumline on their outstanding performance yesterday!

Please see the attached Announcement Sheet for the week. I’ve included itineraries for this Friday’s Contest Preview Performance, BOA Austin, LISD Festival of Bands and the next Football Game. With so many of our parents experiencing Marching Band season for the first time, I’m going to send out an FAQ’s sheet tomorrow about the upcoming marching competition season. This will be designed specifically for parents that have not experienced a competition season.

There are two opportunities to watch your student perform this week prior to BOA Austin: Thursday Rehearsal Run-through (6:35PM) and the Contest Preview Performance on Friday (7:00 PM). I look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome to the Band Department of Vandegrift High School

The Instrumental Music Department at Vandegrift High School enrolls over 300 students from the 9th through 12th grades who study with a dedicated teaching faculty as well as private lesson instructors.

Our Philosophy of Education

Music is a fundamental piece of the human experience. Music Education is therefore a necessary endeavor to ensure that the whole child is being educated. This includes skill development, cognitive understanding, and aesthetic appreciation for many forms of music.

The primary objective of the Vandegrift High School Instrumental Music Department is to develop the performance, rehearsal, and personal practice skills of each student. The vision for the program is to “Define the Standard” in all we do.
