Good Afternoon, Viper Band and Vision Families!
Thank you to everyone who came out last night to support our Vipers and celebrate our incoming 9th-grade students. We are so excited for the week ahead, especially our performance at the LISD Festival of Bands on Monday evening, 9/30, at Gupton Stadium at 8:00pm. The link to purchase tickets is available in the announcement sheet. The LISD Band Festival will feature performances from all six high schools in the district, plus 8th graders. All band and Vision members attend and perform.
Please see the Weekly Announcement Sheet for upcoming schedules and other important information. Next week, on Friday, October 4th, we will travel to Dragon Stadium to play McNeil HS. We hope you’ll join us for the game and our halftime performance.
Finally, as we move into this time of year, “Cranky October” can be a real thing. We know the grind of homework, travel, and the season can weigh heavy on our families. We also know that teachers and administrators are in some of their busiest and longest days of the fall semester, which include many athletic events and closing out the 6-week grading period. Your patience, kindness, grace — and ability to take a moment before sending an e-mail or making a snap judgment go a long way. As our students get tired and sometimes irritable, we remind them to show kindness and make good decisions in their interactions and behaviors. If anything comes up – and your band member is struggling with homework, balancing practice, or life issues, we are here to support them. Our goal is to make the month a little less cranky for all.
Have a wonderful day, and Go Vipers!
Mr. Lipman
