Dates & Volunteer Information

Friday, April 10
Pallet Delivery Day – Teams of parents use box trucks and pallet jacks to deliver pallets of mulch. The Command Center is based at the St. Luke’s Church parking lot.

Saturday, April 11
Mulch Delivery Day – Parent and Student Helpers deliver mulch from both VHS and CRMS. Command Centers will be located at both VHS and CRMS.

  • Mulch-Carrying Vehicle Driver – An Adult Helper with a Pickup, SUV, or minivan that can carry mulch. Trailers (10′ – 16′) are very helpful!
  • Chase Vehicle Driver –An Adult Helper with a vehicle that follows a Mulch-Carrying Vehicle transporting 3-4 Helpers who unload mulch at delivery locations.
  • Command Center Helpers – Help with preparation, distribution, and tracking of delivery tickets.
  • Traffic Flow & Safety Monitors (Saturday only) – Help guide traffic around the “mulch yard” and maximize safety for all volunteers, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Box Truck Drivers – Parents only. Drive a 26’ Box Truck Friday and/or Saturday to deliver pallets of mulch. No experience? Sign up as a helper and you can drive next year!  We will also need most of our drivers to help pick up the trucks (Thursday afternoon) and return them to the rental facility (Saturday afternoon).
  • Box Truck Helpers – Work with your Box Truck driver and other team Helpers to deliver pallets of mulch using the truck, its powered lift-gate, and pallet jacks.
  • Push Vehicle Driver (Pickups/SUVs with steel bumpers only) – Carry Helpers and follow the Box Truck to delivery locations. Occasionally use your vehicle to push pallets up driveways. The mulch bags are soft, but we require steel bumpers to ensure there is no damage to your vehicle. Push Vehicles are an IMPORTANT resource for difficult driveways so please consider helping if your pickup/SUV vehicle has a steel (no plastic) front bumper.
