To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the risk of exposure to our staff and students, all volunteers are required to:

  • Wear a mask and practice safe distancing when possible
  • Complete the COVID-19 screening form on every volunteer-scheduled day, prior to attending
  • If you should answer “yes” to any of the questions on the form, you are NOT permitted to volunteer. Email vp@vhsband.com if you need to cancel due to symptoms or exposure.

The Vandegrift Band is a student-led organization supported by the Vandegrift HIgh School Band Booster Club. Because your child is in band you ARE a member of the VHS Band Booster Club.   It takes the untiring support from our Booster Club Parents, YOU,  for the band to attain its highest potential.  YOU are a big part of their success! BAND AID: Band Aid is set up next to the practice marching field during summer band camp and school rehearsals to assist students who may experience issues during rehearsal such as: dehydration, nausea, and minor scrapes or bruises.  You do not need to have a medical background to volunteer but you must have completed LISD’s medical training class As a bonus for volunteering, the Band Aid location provides a great vantage point to watch the show progress!   Questions? VOLUNTEERS for FOOTBALL GAMES:  We need both chaperones and pit vipers for every home football game. Chaperones assist the students at all times: escorting them to and from the stadium during bathroom breaks, helping with plumes for the shakos, and more. Pit vipers help move band equipment on and off the field for performances and also help load and unload the band trailer and box trucks. Questions? Email vp@vhsband.com or pitvipers@vhsband.com. HOSPITALITY:  A team of dedicated parents ensure all band members, staff, chaperones and pit vipers are fed before each game or contest and support other activities throughout the year. (Ex: Staff Appreciation Luncheon, March-A-Thon, etc.) Questions? Email hospitality@vhsband.com.  Hospitality

UNIFORMS:  Due to COVID19 restrictions, we will not need volunteers for this committee for the 2020 marching season. Check back later, as volunteer needs may resume once restrictions are lifted. We make sure the band looks its best during marching and concert season. We need help fitting students as well as repairing items throughout the year. All marching uniform elastics are installed and repaired by this team as well as hems in dresses and pants during concert season.  Each uniform is pressed and or steamed prior to the start of each season. SPIRIT WEAR:  Help sell VHS Band spirit wear: shirts, masks, jewelry, sunglasses, car emblems, hats and visors at band registration, other band booster events during the year and at home football games.
