Thank you to everyone who braved the weather to ensure our Mulch Delivery was successful. Through the combined efforts of students and parents the Vandegrift HS Band and Vision Dance Company sold nearly 10,000 bags of mulch…ALMOST TWICE our original goal of 5,000 bags. The commitment, dedication, and HARD WORK of the program continues to Define the Standard for all. Special thanks to Kirk, Judy, and Sara Gravely for the countless hours of organization and coordination. We could not have done it with out you!

I am extremely excited to announce that the Band program and Vision Dance Company sold 9,000 bags of mulch for a profit of nearly $9,000…AMAZING!!!  Thank you to everyone who made Phase 1 of this fundraiser a success! Special THANKS to Kirk and Judy Gravely for organizing and coordinating.

Now for the FUN part: we get to deliver all 9,000 bags.

I am looking forward to a wonderful week of music making and a successful Saturday of delivering mulch.

Please join me in congratulating, Matthew Szostak, the FIRST TEXAS MUSIC EDUCATORS ASSOCIATION (TMEA) ALL-STATE MUSICIAN at Vandegrift High School. This honor recognizes him as one of the top 21 tuba players in the ENTIRE STATE OF TEXAS. This is the highest award a high school band student can receive. With this honored distinction, Matthew will participate with other “All-State” musicians from across the state at the TMEA All-State Clinic and Convention to be held in San Antonio, February 8-11, 2012. GREAT JOB MATT…WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU!!!

On behalf of the entire staff I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful Christmas Holiday with your family and friends. Christmas is a wonderful time to remember and cherish those things we are most thankful for. I am thankful for my wife Elizabeth and two children Coral and Aiden, as well as my immediate and extended family. I am also thankful to work with an amazing staff – Mike, Paul, Holly, and Candice, and teach some of the most unbelievable students! Thank you students for all of your hard work this last semester and thank you parents for all you do to continually support our vision for the program. We are truly moving to the Define the Standard for music education everywhere.
